Dixell refrigeration controllers

How Dixell (Copeland) controllers manage everything from a single cold room to a complete refrigeration plant room, and how we integrate them into a central PLC and SCADA system.

Well-known equipment for refrigeration

Dixell belongs to Copeland and is one of the most widespread controller brands in commercial and industrial refrigeration. You find it in small refrigerators, chill and freezer rooms, supermarket display cases and central plant rooms.

Familiar to technicians

A standardised menu structure means the refrigeration engineer doing the service needs no training. That matters when the installation will be maintained for years.

Fast parameter setup

With the Hot Key, parameters are copied from one unit to another in seconds, without errors from manual entry.

Field and network

Each unit works on its own in the room and, when needed, connects to a network so it can be seen from one central point.

From the controllers to central supervision

As the installation grows, it is not enough to look at each controller separately in its room. Dixell units connect to a Modbus network and are read by a central system.

Central monitoring

The PLC collects temperatures, pressures, operating states and alarms from every room and machine.

One screen for everything

The operator sees refrigerators, plant room and defrosts on the same HMI or SCADA screen, together with the other lines of the facility.

Coordination and alerts

The PLC can coordinate loads, apply energy strategies and send fault notifications, without replacing the local controller, which keeps working on its own.

From a single room to a whole installation

The same family covers every scale. Models are chosen per project, depending on the load, the refrigerant and the equipment already in place.

1

Local room controllers

Stand-alone front-panel units that control the compressor, fans and defrost in individual refrigerators, chill rooms and freezers.

2

Display cases and electronic valves

Controllers with a local LAN and drivers for electronic expansion valves (EEV), for precise superheat control and energy savings.

Central refrigeration packs

Management of multiple compressors and condensers in a rack, and freely programmable controllers for chillers and air-handling units.

4

Supervision and logging

Web server devices that gather the units of the installation, keep temperature history, produce HACCP reports and manage alarms.

When the controller is enough and when we add a PLC

Controller on its ownOne or a few rooms, no need for a central picture. The local controller does the job and is the most economical solution.
Controllers with XWEBMany units that need central supervision, temperature history and HACCP reports.
Controllers with PLC / SCADARefrigeration is part of a larger facility and has to be seen and coordinated together with the rest of production or the building.

Equipment is chosen per project. Dixell controllers are a frequent choice in refrigeration, but we also work with other solutions, depending on the needs and the equipment the customer already has.

Models, communication options and unit limits are indicative and confirmed per project, based on the manufacturer's datasheets. Product names and brands belong to their owners (Dixell, Copeland). A note by KP AUTOMATION.
